Jets History: Jets vs Dolphins Nov 19, 1972
by the Jet Report
The 1972 undefeated Dolphins season was led for most of it by QB Earl Morrall. NOT Bob Griese. Morrall started 9 games for Don Shula’s club that year. In this contest, one that pitted a 6-3 Jets club looking to keep playoff hopes alive, Morrall got revenge on the team that unfairly defined his long career after his three interception performance in Super Bowl III as a Colt. A day that led to the famous 16-7 upset.
The Jets were up 24-21 heading into the fourth quarter thanks to two Joe Namath TD passes and a one yard plunge from RB John Riggins.
