Evan Silva of Rotoworld Blasts The Play Of Shonn Greene On Twitter:
We are big Silva guys. He’s thorough and stays away from emotion and feelings in his player breakdowns. Ones that come at a torrid rate year round.
Is he on to something with Shonn Greene? Our biggest question with 23 is why more runs dont kick into the second level.
We like “War Machine” though, but have repeatedly asked for a power running vet to join the new Ground and Pound. 23 has been at his best when Defenses tire, then have to deal with him.
Here is Silva’s tweet run on Greene this morning:
“Re-did 3 #Jets games last night. Shonn Greene even worse than expected. Leaves so many yards on field. Not an NFL starter, to me.”
Silva continues…
“More Shonn Greene: Constantly buried at LOS. Lacks power to push pile. Runs small for big man (5’11/226, listed). Slowww feet. Zero quicks.”
“More Shonn Greene: V little short area- bust/accel. Takes forever to reach top speed. No chance to get corner. Runs like he’s stuck in mud.”
“Truly didn’t see anything good in Shonn Greene. Somewhat hard to tackle w/ full head of steam? Looks part. Does not play anything like it.”
“Actually thought #Jets OL run blocked fine. Creases there. Shonn Greene either didn’t recognize them or was too slow-of-foot to hit them.”
“Shonn Greene games I viewed were Weeks 3, 6, 14. If you want to blame the O-Line, I have some oceanside property up here in Chi for sale.”

I agree with Silva on many of these observations. He does look like he’s running in mud and he’s neither a speed back or a power back. He’d make for a solid backup, but sadly, in his prime, he’s arguably not even as good as LT as he’s retiring.
