The Jet Report: Jets vs Oakland Our Top Five Review:

1-Center: We said “This can’t be a disater area with Mangold out.

It wasn’t early on. It was 17-7 Jets in the middle of the 2nd quarter. Then they tried to open things up in the second half and the line collapsed.

2-The Secondary: We said “Let’s keep ball hawking, maybe find a way to get a few picks to lighten the load for the offense.

Cromartie was flagged four times, the tackling was poor, and there were no interceptions of Jason Campbell.

3-Widen the field in the run game: We said “Even if plays dont create yards, get the ball outside 7-10 times. Tire the Raiders interior up front. “

The Jets ran sweeps and screens outside. It led to a 17-7 lead and their best rushing day all season.

4-Plaxico Burress. We said “Lets use him if the coverage is one on one as many see it being.”

Burress was featured, but a key 4th and three to him was not converted and Sanchez was pressured too often to make any receiver a serious weapon.

5-Play in control: We said “No Mangold may mean some rough early three n out drives. if so, dont panic. Let Campbell take risks on our secondary and play defense, not vice versa..”

The Jets played in control but did they lose control by going away from the run and screen game to the downfield game in the second half? The Raiders may have made adjustments that forced them to.
